March 20 Panel Resources

The following resources are provided to graduate students who attended the March 20 panel discussion on career development.

Understanding the Process

The career development process can be both exciting and challenging for graduate students. To assist you with navigating the process, we have created a model focused on three areas:

Our Career Planning & Development Guidebook provides a comprehensive overview of the career development process and resources in a consolidated 46 page PDF file.

Starting the Process

  • Before you search for career opportunities, you need to know who you are as a person and identify your skills and interests so you can find a career where you can find success, meaning, and impact. This is known as Personal Development within the Engage stage of the process. A good first step is to utilize a variety of self-assessments to learn more about yourself. MyIDP is a nice tool that is geared for graduate students interested in careers in science.
  • If you prefer to meet in person, you are welcome to schedule an appointment with a career consultant by visiting our Contact Us page.
