Hiring The International Student

If your organization is advertising to fill positions at the Master/Ph.D. level, you may receive resumes from international students who need sponsorship. Don't dismiss those applications out of hand; take a closer look! The precedent for international students to obtain temporary U.S. work authorization is longstanding and well-established, and the application process is straightforward. The International Student and Scholar Affairs (ISSA) office at Notre Dame works with students to facilitate employment authorization, which is approved by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service.

Graduate Career Services, in coordination with Notre Dame International, has put together an easy-to-use and downloadable guide "Hiring the International Student" to help clarify the work authorization process.
